Singles love to travel and what better way to see the country and have fun than to carry your home along with you?

All types of single RVing addicts take to the nation's highways in search of the unknown, the unique, and the satisfaction of reaching each and every destination!

More and more 'traveling rigs' are bought by 'single people over 55' every day.  Now, a booming network has expanded to cater to the specific desires of those who choose to 'travel solo', and a multitude of those who choose to 'travel alone' enjoy the comraderie of others at the end of the day! 

Who Am I ?

Born in 1946 to ranchers in northeast Texas, I grew up knowing the best of worlds.  My prized uncle taught me to drive, and the 'real world' taught me about 'logical things' like nature, friends, family, and how much your enjoyment of life depends of how much effort you put into seeking the pleasures!   I learned 'the country way' which seemed to always work, and after high school, went off to college to earn some 'degrees to 'show people'!    The degrees are in a box or drawer, long forgotten, but the times spent traveling have stuck in my heart and soul.

On Yahoo's RVing groups (Yahoogroups), I found  a long list of diverse groups of people that want to 'perfect' their adventures in the outdoors and on the highways and byways, ranging from interstates to dirt roads and open fields!

The 'love of travel' was passed to me through experiences with my parents, and although sometimes necessary to be 'in remission', the soul and heart will never lose the wanderlust for new places, new experiences, and the best friends to make life happy! 

Now that I'm retired, long divorced, four wonderfully independent adult children educated,  and with the loving care of my awesome, but aging parents fullfilled,  I remember the legacy they left instilled deep in my being.  When I feel the 'lure of the open road'  and remember how it feels to have finally found a way to open up the world of 'traveling solo' I am learning 'how to' make it work for me, and it has become a sense of adventure, a passion always unfulfilled, and a world of satisfaction never ending!! 

How RV-Singles 'Happened'! 

The need for a 'network' of people who were both single and wanted to travel in their RV, coupled with my new rig, my internet searches, and my first trip to a get-together, made me realize that 'singles' needed a way to stay in frequent communication with one another about all the aspects of 'traveling single'. 

It's not much fun sometimes to be the 'only single' person to show up at a campout, or a 'fifth wheel' in a group, and it's a 'different kind of conversation' when trying to communicate on a website with married people.  

Six years ago, RV-Singles was created on Yahoogroups so that 'single RVers' could have a special place to 'be single' and 'act single'!

Singles needed a place to talk about 'single' life and a comfortable place to chat and have fun!  The RV-Singles group has evolved into a terrific group of 55+ singles with RVs who are traveling, camping, laughing, loving, caring, and finding haven with like-minded friends! 

In that short 8 years,

RV-Singles@yahoogroups.com has a membership of over 600 and holds campouts and get-togethers all over the continent! 

Staying 'in touch' has become so much fun! Having the chance to put names with faces has enabled the group to grow into a network of friends nationwide who care about each other, camp and travel together, and another 'single person' who better understands how much we care about each other! We're always looking for new friends to join us in new places 'down the road'!!
